Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 12, 2026
Firepit ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Firepit mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
1. Information We Collect
Firepit is designed with privacy at its core. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). Here is what we do collect:
Anonymous Device Identifier
We generate a random, anonymous device identifier when you first open the App. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other personal information. It is used solely to personalize your experience and remember your preferences across sessions.
Onboarding Preferences
During onboarding, you may select preferences including:
- Energy level
- Social context (couples, friends, family, strangers)
- Conversation depth
- Fun styles
These preferences are used to tailor the conversation cards shown to you. They are stored anonymously and are not linked to any personal identity.
Card Interaction Data
We collect anonymous feedback on conversation cards, including:
- Likes and dislikes
- Saved (favorite) cards
- Reported cards
This data helps us improve card quality, surface better content, and identify cards that may need to be reviewed or removed.
User-Created Content
If you create custom question cards within the App, the content of those cards is stored on our servers. Custom cards are associated with your anonymous device identifier only.
Error and Diagnostic Logs
We collect anonymous error logs and diagnostic data to identify and fix bugs, improve App performance, and enhance the overall user experience. These logs do not contain any personally identifiable information.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or any personal contact information
- Location or GPS data
- Payment or financial information
- Phone numbers or contacts
- Photos, camera, or microphone data
- Browsing history or data from other apps
- Apple ID or any third-party account information
3. How We Use Your Information
The anonymous information we collect is used to:
- Personalize the conversation cards shown to you based on your preferences
- Remember your favorite cards and settings across sessions
- Improve the quality of our card content based on aggregate feedback
- Moderate user-generated content to ensure a safe experience
- Diagnose and fix technical issues
- Analyze usage patterns in aggregate to improve the App
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Data Protection
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. We do not share your data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Any third-party services we use (such as our database provider, Neon, and our hosting provider) are contractually required to provide the same or equal protection of your data as outlined in this policy.
We only work with service providers who comply with industry-standard security practices and data protection regulations. Anonymous, aggregated data may be used internally for analytics and product improvement purposes.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
6. User-Generated Content and Moderation
Custom question cards created by users are subject to review for inappropriate content. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates our Terms of Service, including but not limited to hate speech, explicit sexual content, harassment, or spam.
Users can report inappropriate cards within the App. Devices associated with repeated violations may be blocked from creating or submitting content.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Data Deletion Rights — Delete Your Data Directly in the App
We believe you should have full control over your data. You can delete all of your data directly within the App at any time — no email required, no waiting period.
To delete your data, open the App, go to "Privacy & Support", and tap "Delete My Data." The deletion is immediate and permanent.
When you delete your data, the following is permanently removed:
- Your onboarding preferences
- Saved cards and custom cards you created
- Card feedback and interaction history
- Error and diagnostic logs
This action cannot be undone. Once your data is deleted, it is gone forever. You will lose all saved cards, preferences, and personalization. If you use the App again after deleting your data, you will start fresh as a new user.
You may also request data deletion by emailing support@firepit.app with your device ID (found in the App's Privacy & Support screen).
Data Retention Policy
We retain your anonymous data (device ID, preferences, card feedback, custom cards, and error logs) only for as long as you use the App.
If you stop using the App, your data remains in our system but is not actively used unless you return.
When you delete your data (either through the App or by request), it is permanently removed from our servers within 24 hours. We do not keep backups of deleted user data. Once it is gone, it cannot be recovered by anyone — including us.
8. Revoking Consent
You provided consent to data collection during onboarding. You can revoke this consent at any time.
To revoke consent and delete your data, you can use the "Delete My Data" option under "Privacy & Support" in the App, or email support@firepit.app with your device ID.
After revoking consent, you may continue to use the App, but your experience will not be personalized, and features like saved cards and custom cards will not be available.
If you wish to use the App with personalization again after revoking consent, you will need to go through onboarding again and provide consent.
9. Your Rights
Even though we do not collect personal information, you still have rights regarding your data:
- Access: You may request a copy of the data associated with your anonymous device identifier
- Deletion: You can delete all your data directly in the App under "Privacy & Support," or request deletion by email
- Consent: You may revoke your consent to data collection at any time (see Section 8)
- Opt-out: You may uninstall the App at any time to stop all data collection
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address below.
10. Children's Privacy
Firepit is rated 17+ and is not intended for use by children under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child under 17 is using the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, since we do not collect personally identifiable information and do not sell data, most CCPA provisions do not apply to our data practices. If you have questions about your rights, please contact us.
13. International Users
If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.
